Wake Up 00:35
Can you hear me When the son calls Can you see me when the night falls.
Because 04:45
Because the days go on, and so should I ‘cause there’s nowhere to go but up from here because I haven’t seen what I believe but I know, I know it’s coming [V2] Though it’s not for me though I bleed Though you slay me, because it’s making me whole again and brand new Each day that I die, I trust in you Each day that I die, I trust in you. [V3] But for all those who seek for family though it’s not for free it all recedes I’m whole again and brand new each day that I die, I trust in you each day that I die, i trust in you [Pt. 2] (Days go on, you were there) All along, I belong to you All along You were good to me
They Rise 03:23
[V1] As I wander through the desert the storm is at my back everything I’ve ever feared everything I’ve ever lacked freedoms call burns red turn and face the sun truth is a still tower don’t fall don’t run [chorus] In still water in clear skies with the sand, with the sand in my eyes in still water in clear skies I will stand, I will stand til I die Like I’ll rise, Like I’ll rise when I die [V2] He is the bridge between what I know and what I see what I feel and what I believe In the calm and urgency He is my guarantee When I have nothing I have everything When I have nothing I have everything [Chorus] [Bridge] As the world goes mad I face the firing line salvation floods my mind like a crown on my head like a banner blowing in the wind I know the place I’m standing in, standing in.
[Chorus] [v2]
Can you hear me, when the son calls? Can you see me, when the night falls?
Half Dead on the way up Ammo’s all been cleared out Man, you’re really killing me But I love a chance to turn the tide So come at me swinging, looking for a fight Burry my weapons in the ground, You can’t take what I lay down [Chorus] Nobody takes my life (x4) I lay it down for you (x4) [v2] I beat you to the punch With a heart that softens the blow And you can’t stop my gentleness And I’m going to love you to death [Chorus] [J Givens] Death is the start of the next part See a star go from Hova To solar To land on the land like a rover To supernova to roll stone over shake the spigot Celebrate mine on the day of the dead But tell her, "Take wine to the table of bread" Now, what's homicide if I lay it instead? She said, "Suicide." So I says to Mabel, I says Have you ever seen a dead body Dig calmly from the root of a palm tree to the tip top
And did not stop Drop
roll the rock Woah Like a black rob zombie Necro-hip hop
Friendships sail farther If you start em with martyrdom Guard em with all that you g-got Trade noose for a slip knot And slip not tied you to the author of time rock Tick tock What matters to the wings of a scavenger starving Like artist Between a cadaver and carcasses scattered Is one brings synthetic means to and end Life springs from the latter

“Wake up because they rise in the night of the living half dead, made of miracles.”

The Half Dead Ep is CATAPHANT's first EP under a new moniker and evolved song writing process. Originally a folk song writer, CATAPHANT collaborated with gifted producer and long time collaborator Ohmega Watts to produce a more eclectic, electronic sound that is closer to the diverse set of influences that shape her musical creativity. The project was recorded in Chicago, Seattle and Los Angeles.

Thematically, Half Dead explores the idea that life can ultimately come from death when it’s walked out in faith that a higher power holds both in the balance.

“The Half Dead EP was written during one of the darkest years of my life. I was grieving the breakdown of several key relationships within my family and community, resurfacing & un-dealt-with past trauma, and overwhelming disillusionment with where life had brought me. I felt the death of certain hopes, dreams, and ideals cloud my once bright vision. At the onset of this season, I knew that if I let myself be overcome with despair I would be crippled by it for years to come. I used song writing as a means to process pain as well as declare, out of faith, that the emotional death I was experiencing at the time would ultimately lead to life. Using Jesus as my example and anchor, I musically documented what I learned about being healed, redeemed, and resurrected. “
